Why this course exists

Black entrepreneurs in Canada face systemic barriers that have little to do with effort or talent: thinner access to startup capital, fewer informal investors in the family network, and professional advice that was not designed with them in mind. This course exists to close that information gap.

It is designed for owners who are already trading and for people who are still deciding whether to start, and it is delivered by a professional who works with these questions every day.

What you will cover

  • Business launch - turning an idea into an operation that can actually run
  • Legal entity structures - what a sole proprietorship, partnership and corporation mean for you
  • Tax implications - HST, corporate tax and personal tax, and how they interact
  • Reading financial statements - income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and retained earnings
  • Payroll setup - what to put in place before you hire your first employee
Sessions are free and run in plain language. Bring your own questions about your business - there is time set aside for them.
